FAQ’s – Heated Classes in Mitte
What are infrared heaters and what do they do?
Infrared heaters generate infrared radiation, a form of electromagnetic energy that directly warms people and objects rather than heating the surrounding air. Similar to the warmth felt from sunlight, infrared energy travels through space without warming the air in between. These heaters use a heating element to emit electromagnetic waves that transfer thermal energy directly upon contact, resulting in efficient and targeted heating.
Is infrared heat/radiation safe?
Yes. Infrared heaters emit long-wave infrared radiation which is considered safe for human exposure. This type of radiation does not contain ultraviolet (UV) rays, does not cause skin cancer, and is commonly used in therapeutic, fitness, and wellness settings.
How is infrared heat different from traditional heated classes?
Traditional heated rooms warm the air, which can feel heavy or stifling. Infrared heat warms objects and people directly, often feeling gentler, easier to breathe in, and more consistent throughout the room.
Does infrared heat help me sweat more?
Yes. Infrared heat encourages a deep, natural sweat as your body warms from the inside out. Increased sweating can support temperature regulation and enhance the workout experience, but hydration is important.
Will the room look red or feel extremely hot?
No. Infrared heat does not need visible red light to be effective. The warmth is subtle, evenly distributed, and designed to feel supportive; not overwhelming. The warmth is more gentle and even (often described as “sun-like” ), not stuffy or humid air. The movements remain low-impact and controlled, but the added heat can make the workout feel more challenging.
Is this same as red light therapy?
No. Red light therapy uses visible red LEDs for cellular and skin benefits, requiring proximity to the light source. Infrared panels heating uses far-infrared (FIR) radiant heat panels mounted on walls or ceilings, covering the entire movement area. It heats people and objects directly, not the air (unlike traditional heaters,) using heat to support movement, circulation, and muscle activation.
Who should be cautious with infrared-heated workouts?
Individuals who have cardiovascular conditions, heat sensitivity, or medical concerns should consult a healthcare provider before participating. If you are pregnant, we do not recommend these classes. Always listen to your body and take breaks as needed.
What should I bring to an infrared-heated class?
Bring a water bottle, breathable workout clothing, and an open mind. You may sweat more than usual, even during lower-intensity classes.
Is infrared heat good for beginners?
Yes, but beginners should start slowly, stay hydrated, and take breaks when needed.
